Carpet Cleaning Tips
An important factor in keeping your home’s carpet cleaner is to prevent the dirt coming inside the house. We need to keep the dirt outside where it belongs. The majority of soils that get into your home are tracked in from your shoes. If we can prevent this from happening in the first place, your carpets will stay cleaner longer.
Be sure to keep the entrances of your home free of dirt. Landscaping around the entrances of your home will keep the level of soils down. Your porch or deck needs to be swept often to keep the soils outside. The use of entrance mats will also prevent the soils from entering your home.
You should also use walk off mats inside your home. Make sure they are large enough to take a few steps on. These mats must be washed regularly to allow them to do their job. I suggest using a mat that is small enough to be thrown in your washing machine. A mat with a rubber backing is ideal, as it will stay put on nearly every surface.
It’s also a great idea to wear some sort of inside slippers. Just think of where you shoes have been through out the day. Having indoor only slippers, will drasticaly cut the time you spend vacuuming your carpets.
If we can cut down the amount of dirt entering our home, we will have a cleaner place to live. If you are only to do a few of the recommendations above, the allergens in your home will be reduced.
