If you’re looking to free up some space in the house and the garage is so crammed with odds and ends, gardening appliances and other stuff that’s in the way but you don’t want to really throw it out then a storage shed could be the perfect solution.
With online storage shed plans readily available from the internet it is productive looking into building your own and it isn’t as tough as you might imagine; it’s a great way of saving money and a satisfying project to perform.
Here are some tips to help with the project:
First perform a search online for down-loadable storage shed plans, don’t bother with the single sets of plans, you can get a hold of full sets of shed plans that also include other projects such as garden furniture and so on. These plans cost a fraction of the single sets with plans working out at just a few cents each.
Next decide where you are going to put your new shed, keep in mind the position of doors and windows, also make sure that it will look nice in relation to your house.
Now roughly work out the floor space covered by the storage shed and then returning to your plans use this information to select a size and design that most nearly fits your needs.
Having selected the type and design it is time to check with your building inspector to be sure that your new construction doesn’t contravene any building codes and you may want to check with the local renters association if you have one.
If all the above goes to plan, no pun intended, then you can order your materials from your local provider, all of the wood sizes fixtures and fittings will be mentioned on you plans. Some providers will cut your timbers to length at no additional cost. Again from your plans you should be able to work out costs but remember to account for stuff like paint and brushes etc.
You’ll need to prepare a firm base for your shed ; this may be made from concrete, gravel, blocks or treated timbers, a strong base will add years to the life of your shed and ensure the smooth operation of doors and windows.
