Plumbing: A Primer
Next week the renovation work will start at my place. I have already made a rough idea about the new design. There are many things that need to be changed and most important amongst them are the fittings for water and drainage system at different points in the house.
Plumbers are the right people to collect various information about the equipments and other things to be used and taken care of. Plumbers are basically responsible for the initial installation and later on with the maintenance of the plumbing equipments and plumbing is the basically dealing with pipes and tubes and various other plumbing fixtures for drinking water system and transport of waste.
After talking to them, I have gathered enough information about the equipments that should be used. Present day water supply systems use a network of high pressure pumps, and pipes are now made of copper,brass, plastic,or other nontoxic material. The drain and vent lines are made of plastic, steel, cast-iron.
The basic straight equipments are the pipes and the tubes. Pipes usually have thicker walls while tubes are thin.Pipes are made via casting or welding where as tubes are made through extrusion.
Besides these simple ones, there are other equipments used like elbows, unions, valves, trees depending upon the requirement. These are usually used in huge and much more complicated designs like those of a factory etc.
The major categories of plumbing systems are: potable supply of hot and cold water, traps, drains, vents, Septic systems, Rainwater, surface, and subsurface water drainage, and Fuel gas piping.I have decided different and latest plumbing equipments for kitchen, bathroom, water meters, filters, water heaters, gauges etc
Good quality plumbing equipments must be used for the various water system in homes otherwise this can create a lot of problems. These days plumbers use video cameras for inspections of hidden leaks or problems.
After gathering enough information from the plumbers, I was satisfied with the cost and the quality of their work. They helped me in every possible way in explaining different things to be taken care of. They had great knowledge of their domain.
